Guide 10: QoL Cheat Sheet

The pack is full of small mods that don’t need a guide — they need one sentence you were never told. Here are all of those sentences. Skim now, remember later.

Finding things out

  • JEI: hover any item → R shows its recipe, U shows what it makes. A bookmarks it. Type @create (or any mod name) in the search bar to browse one mod’s items. This replaces the wiki 95% of the time.
  • Create’s Ponder: hold W on any Create item for an animated in-world tutorial (Guide 3).
  • Jade (the top-of-screen tooltip): shows what block/mob you’re looking at, its mod, and often its state (progress, contents).
  • AppleSkin: hover food to see exact hunger + saturation; the HUD previews what eating will restore.
  • Enchantment Descriptions: enchanted book tooltips explain what the enchant actually does. Read them — the pack has dozens of modded enchants.
  • Controlling (client): Options → Controls now has a search bar. With 284 mods’ keybinds, this is how you find (and fix conflicting) keys. Worth five minutes of cleanup on first launch.

Inventory & storage

  • Sophisticated Backpacks: right-click to open without placing; put upgrades in its left slots — Pickup (auto-collect), Magnet, Feeding (auto-eats from inside), Stack upgrades (multiply capacity). Backpacks work while worn on your back.
  • Sophisticated Storage chests take the same upgrade family. A magnet chest next to your mob farm collects for you.
  • Mouse Tweaks (client): click-drag to spread stacks, scroll-wheel over stacks to move items one at a time between inventories.
  • Quark: buttons in your inventory/chest UIs auto-sort and mass-move (“dump”, “restock”). Hover-scroll moves single items. Shulker boxes open by right-click in hand.
  • Carry On: sneak + right-click (empty hand) picks up a full chest, machine, or small mob. Sneak-click again to place. Moving day solved.
  • Portable Crafting Table / Sleeping Bags: craft on the go; sleep without setting your spawn (sleeping bag) — perfect for expeditions.

Death & danger

  • Tombstone: your grave holds everything; the grave key teleports you back (soulbound — you keep it on death). Right-click the grave to auto-re-equip your armor. Dying repeatedly grants “Knowledge of Death” perks — yes, dying is a progression system.
  • Xaero deathpoint: an automatic skull waypoint marks your last death. Between this and Tombstone, lost inventories basically don’t happen.
  • Torchmaster Mega Torch: one block, no hostile spawns in a large radius around your base. Stop carpet-torching your walls.
  • Clumps: XP orbs merge into one — grab the whole pile in one touch (it’s also why mob farms don’t lag the server).

Getting around

  • Waystones: activate everywhere; Warp Scrolls/Stones (craftable) teleport you to any activated waystone from anywhere. Keep one bound for emergencies.
  • Xaero’s: B drops a waypoint; the world map (M by default) is shared-render but personal-waypoints. Mark ore veins, dungeons, biomes — future you says thanks.
  • Waystone + grave key + warp scroll is the explorer’s holy trinity. Check your keybinds for all three mods once (see Controlling above).

Gear recycling

  • Disenchanting Table: pull enchantments off gear onto books (feeds your Apotheosis library, Guide 6).
  • Uncrafting Table: break unwanted items back into ingredients. Dungeon-loot iron gear is secretly iron ingots.
  • Salvaging Table (Apotheosis): affix gear → rarity materials. Between these three, nothing you loot is vendor trash.

Server-life misc

  • Lootr: sparkly chests are per-player — you never need to race a friend to a dungeon.
  • Sleep voting: enough players in bed skips the night (and Better Days tunes day length — expect nights to pass differently than vanilla).
  • Corail Spawners: spawners are silk-touchable and movable — a found spawner is a farm kit (pair with Guide 6’s spawner modifiers).
  • Mob Grinding Utils: fans push, mashers kill, XP taps collect — purpose-built farm blocks that beat water-canal contraptions.
  • FTB/Xaero claims aren’t in this pack — base protection is the honor system plus whatever the server rules say. Mega torch keeps mobs out; manners keep players out.
