Joining the Server — Player Setup Guide
1. Install the modpack
Install the modpack exactly as shared (CurseForge instance, Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.x). If you already have it installed and playing single player, you’re most of the way there — just make the mod changes below.
2. Update your mods folder
Open your instance’s mods folder (in the CurseForge app: right-click the profile → Open Folder → mods) and make these four changes:
Delete these three files
| File | Why |
|---|---|
letsdo-bakery-forge-1.1.15.jar | Duplicate of the Bakery mod — the pack keeps letsdo-bakery-forge-2.0.3.jar. Having both can crash the game at launch. |
xlpackets-1.18.2-2.1.jar | Built for Minecraft 1.18.2 — does nothing on 1.20.1. Replaced by Packet Fixer below. |
nutritionalbalance-1.20-5.1.3.jar | Removed from the pack — it froze the server for a minute at a time. The server no longer runs it, and you can’t join while you still have it. |
Add this mod
| Mod | Download | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Packet Fixer 3.3.2 (Forge 1.20.1) | https://modrinth.com/mod/packet-fixer/versions | Without it you’ll be kicked while joining with a “Payload may not be larger than 1048576 bytes” error. |
Everything else in the pack stays exactly as it is — including all the visual mods (shaders, minimap, etc.). Don’t remove anything else.
3. Connect
- Launch the modpack.
- Multiplayer → Add Server.
- Server address:
<ASK FOR THE CURRENT ADDRESS>— include the port (the part after the:), it’s required. - Join!
Troubleshooting
- “Payload may not be larger than … bytes” — you skipped adding Packet Fixer (step 2).
- Kicked with a screen naming a specific mod — your mods folder doesn’t match the pack. Redo step 2, or send a screenshot of the error.
- Game crashes after joining the world — send the newest file from your instance’s
crash-reportsfolder. - “Connection refused” / can’t reach the server — the server may be restarting; it takes a few minutes to come up. Try again shortly.
- Duplicate mod error at launch — you still have both Bakery jars; delete the
1.1.15one.
